👩🏻🍳 Tamara Talks – About Fusion Taco Recipes
Have you checked out my Tacos and Tostadas category? This border girl grew up on basic ground beef tacos with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded sharp cheddar, and hot sauce. As an adult, however, I discovered an entire world of tacos! We’ve had a love affair ever since.
My first foray into creating fusion tacos was probably my fried oyster tacos. While the flavor profile is somewhat Mexican, fried oysters are a Southern thing (southern US). That was a jumping off point for me. Korean and Indian street tacos followed, and most recently, I’ve done Peruvian fish tacos and lomo saltado tacos.
What are “fusion tacos?”
“Fusion taco” typically refers to a taco that combines elements from different culinary traditions or cuisines. It involves blending flavors, ingredients, and cooking techniques from different cultural backgrounds to create a unique and innovative taco. Fusion tacos can feature a variety of combinations, such as mixing Mexican with Asian, Mediterranean, or other Latin influences. The goal is to create a fusion of flavors that may not be traditional in Mexican cuisine but result in a delicious and creative culinary experience. Examples could include tacos with Korean barbecue, sushi-inspired toppings, global-style toppings like tzatziki, tahini, gochujang, etc.
As you peruse this list of tacos, you will find several different proteins – beef and lamb, chicken, fish and seafood, and vegetarian. The toppings are creative, and even the wrapper may be non-traditional (like naan or pita). Be sure to scroll all the way through… You won’t want to miss a single one!
