20 Boozy Frozen Desserts
Memorial Day (and the official start of summer) was yesterday… What could possibly be more appealing than a collection of 20 Boozy Frozen Desserts? From bourbon to St. Germain to whiskey, and citrus to stone fruit to chocolate, I’ve got you covered!
Why Boozy Frozen Desserts?
The addition of delicious wine, spirits, and liqueurs does amp up the flavor… and that’s always a good thing! 😉 The reason for selecting boozy frozen desserts for this collection was twofold:
- Alcohol has a very low freezing point (colder than your freezer). Adding it to the sorbet or ice cream mix makes it softer, easier to scoop, and less icy. Have you ever been disappointed to pull a container of homemade ice cream out of the freezer only to find it icy and nearly impossible to scoop? A little bit of hootch avoids that problem!
- I think you’ll find the texture better and the flavors more complex! Sounds like a win/win to me!
This collection includes sorbets, ice creams, and a granita, all of which can be made in an ice cream freezer if you prefer. Many of the recipes are “no churn,” and require no special equipment.
I have a Cuisinart counter top appliance with a base that must be frozen 24 hours prior to use. I typically chill all of the ingredients, make the mixture, chill it 2 hours, and then freeze it in my Cuisinart.
I can’t wait for you to see the flavor combinations in these lovely sorbets and ice creams, and I’ve included a brief description from each of the authors to help you choose! I hope I have time to make them all… It’s basically summer year ’round in McAllen, Texas, so I probably have an advantage!

This Sauvignon Blanc Sorbet is just the thing to cool you down. It’s light and refreshing. It’s filled with flavor but won’t weigh you down!
A refreshing rum sorbet made with tropical fruit and golden rum for the perfect, hassle free summer dessert.
This delicately pink sorbet packs a wallop of tart grapefruit flavour for a refreshing finish to a summer meal. Campari, an Italian aperitif with a bitter bite, does double duty in this recipe – its bright red colour enhances the sorbet’s rosy hue, and also ensures a more scoopable texture by inhibiting ice crystal formation.
Luscious dark chocolate, fresh raspberry purée, and just a bit of full-bodied stout is sure to please the palate of chocolate lovers... Raspberry Double Chocolate Sorbet with Stout is dairy-free, and oh-so-delicious!
This Pineapple and Dark Rum Instant Sorbet take minutes to make in a high power blender. It’s light, full of flavour and a delight to share at the end of a meal or on a warm summer evening.
Cherry and Blackberry Red Wine Granita with Black pepper sour cream
So it’s lightly sweetened, with chopped cherries and blackberries mixed with red wine, frozen and then flaked just before serving for an amazing summer dessert! But hey, I didn’t stop there. I topped it with some sweetened sour cream that was spiced with a little black pepper for a lovely kick.
Mulled wine spices add vibrant flavor notes to this red wine and plum sorbet... A light, refreshing finish to any elegant meal with a sprig of mint and a square of dark chocolate!
I added a generous 1/4 cup of Kahlua, to give this ice cream a wonderful boozy flavour with just a hint of coffee that perfectly complements and elevates the cherry flavour!
Bailey’s Chocolate Chip No-Churn Ice Cream, homemade ice cream made with four ingredients, fast, easy, and so delicious.
This limoncello ice cream is so rich and creamy. The limoncello gives the ice cream a sweet yet slightly tangy taste and you’ll detect a lovely, strong lemon flavor. The color of the limoncello is a beautiful deep yellow color, it’s so pretty to look at…
The ice cream is creamy, mildly sweet and packs quite a punch! The best part? It makes just enough that you don’t have to feel guilty about eating it all!
A healthy twist on vegan ice cream – with just enough ‘bad’ to make it fun. A creamy, maple and whiskey ice cream base with crunchy roasted hazelnuts folded in. Makes for a delicious, slightly-boozy frozen treat that’s sure to impress. Vegan & Gluten Free.
The dark brown sugar used gives this ice cream a nice molasses flavor and the bourbon rounds it off with vanilla and caramel notes. Oh, in case you didn’t know this, adding just a touch of liquor to your ice cream keeps it nice, soft and scoop-able.
This is truly an adult coconut vegan ice cream with a kick. It would work well in a cocktail float as well.
A luscious frozen treat with the ingredients and flavors of a mango margarita! It's vegan, gluten and dairy free, and delicious!
